EN Coefficient of Thermal Expansion
Thermal properties of electroless nickel vary with deposit composition. Phosphorus content has a strong effect and is illustrated in the graph below. The coefficient of thermal expansion for high phosphorus coatings are approximate to that of steel. It should be noted at this point that the variation of C.T.E. between the electroless nickel deposit and the substrate has a profound effect on the extrinsic stress and should be considered when matching deposit to substrate.
